Kinney Farms Community Garden FAQ
- How many sections in a row can I have?
- Each gardener is allowed two(2) sections and one (1) vine section.
- What gardening plants are allowed?
- Only "transplanted plants", seeds don't have sun light to grow effectively.
- All non-vining crops are allowed in the vegetable sections. This includes:
- Onions
- Tomatoes
- Potatoes
- Peppers
- kale/Cabbage
- Flowers can be planted in vegetable sections
- Vine crops?
- There will be 2 sections parallel to vegetable sections (non-irrigated). This includes:
- Cucumbers
- Squash
- Pumpkins
- There will be 2 sections parallel to vegetable sections (non-irrigated). This includes:
- Chemical use?
- Gardeners can use fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and foliar feed in their section.
- CAUTION: Read labels to not interfere with other gardener's crops.

- Watering?
- The vegetable section will have drip irrigation for plants (watered twice a week during peak demands) however, if you feel your crops need additional watering, you may bring your own water. Vice crops are non-irrigated and will need to be watered.
- What is drip irrigation?
- Under the plastic mulch (2-3" below soil) is a "black dirp tape" that emits water every 12". Please be cautions NOT to pierce the hose when planting the crop or placing stakes, cages or anything other than the plant.
- Weeding?
- Gardeners are responsible of keeping their section weed-free including the area next to the plastic mulch. Chemicals are allowed.
