If you have claimed a plot, you must plant by May 25th. If you haven't planted by then, your plot is forfeited to someone on the waitlist.

Kinney Farms Community Garden FAQ

  1. How many sections in a row can I have?
    1. Each gardener is allowed two(2) sections and one (1) vine section.
  2. What gardening plants are allowed?
    1. Only "transplanted plants", seeds don't have sun light to grow effectively.
    2. All non-vining crops are allowed in the vegetable sections. This includes:
      1. Onions
      2. Tomatoes
      3. Potatoes
      4. Peppers
      5. kale/Cabbage
    3. Flowers can be planted in vegetable sections
  3. Vine crops?
    1. There will be 2 sections parallel to vegetable sections (non-irrigated). This includes:
      1. Cucumbers
      2. Squash
      3. Pumpkins
  4. Chemical use?
    1. Gardeners can use fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and foliar feed in their section.
      1. CAUTION: Read labels to not interfere with other gardener's crops.
  5. Watering?
    1. The vegetable section will have drip irrigation for plants (watered twice a week during peak demands) however, if you feel your crops need additional watering, you may bring your own water. Vice crops are non-irrigated and will need to be watered.
  6. What is drip irrigation?
    1. Under the plastic mulch (2-3" below soil) is a "black dirp tape" that emits water every 12". Please be cautions NOT to pierce the hose when planting the crop or placing stakes, cages or anything other than the plant.
  7. Weeding?
    1. Gardeners are responsible of keeping their section weed-free including the area next to the plastic mulch. Chemicals are allowed.
